Gallery Album Photo Cover Being Displayed After You Open Album

I recently upgraded to the S26 Ultra and one change in the Gallery app that I find intrusive and useless is that when I open an album, it displays the cover photo at the top of the screen which takes up over 40% of the screen.

Cover photos for albums is fine when you select album view in the app, but after you open an album - WHY would you then waste space displaying the cover photo?

Can that be disabled?

It's a complete waste of space and I already know exactly what album I opened. I do not need to see the album cover being so prominently displayed and wasting space on a small screen, I just want to see the thumbnails of the photos within the album.

I've searched to see if others have said it can be disabled but haven't found anything useful yet. This did not occur on my old Samsung phone in the gallery app, it just displays the thumbnails.
