Google Messages Trash Bin is Back!

I just opened the Messages and I was surprised to see a trash bin! I've been waiting for a long time, especially that I've just switched from Samsung Messages now that they've announced they are stopping support in July. Yippee 😁

Google Messages features are triggered by back-end server flags and not necessarily by updates to the app. Some features may appear and disappear.

Glad you got it. I had it weeks ago and then it mysteriously disappeared. Finally came back last night. I hate server-side rollouts!

I got it last night too.

My kid had it for a few weeks then it was gone. He said it came back for him this morning.

Google Messages is pretty legit. I understand people not loving Samsung messages going away, but Google really is crushing it with messages right now.

It needs a lot of work. It could be way better, like with biometrics to lock chats, payments, in-app gaming, better backup and restore options, and a real version of Messages on Web, Windows, and tablets.

RCS isn't just used for messages; it actually stands for Rich Communication Services. Most people automatically assume that it's part of Google Messages, but it's more than that. Currently, you can technically make video calls from Google Messages via Google Meet.
