Option to swipe down fingerprint sensor for notification panel

May I know why this is removed from the Fold5 and Flip5? I used this feature every single day and now it's gone. It's detrimental to keep this feature so can it be added back with a software update??

Try submitting error reports in Samsung Members to them. If enough people do it, we can get this feature back hopefully.

Lacking Gesture On Flip5

Hey Samsung,

I noticed that the Finger Sensor Gestures Feature is missing on the new Z Flip5. Do you think you could add that on with a quick software update very soon? With the phone being so tall, its a really helpful feature to pull down the notification shade while in an app.

@Jess04 Yes, it's very possible. Be sure to submit this feature request in the Samsung Members app under Support at the bottom>Send feedback>submit as an Error report.

I heard it's because they switched to an optical scanner instead of capacitive, and unfortunately you can't do gestures with those. I wish they could've made it maybe 2 taps on the fingerprint sensor to bring it down or something like that atleast 😕 In super bummed, it was one of my favorite things! every phone I've had since my pixel 2 had the fingerprint gestures....

@AllieCatOwO The Fold 5 uses a capacitive sensor, just like the Fold 4.

Removal of Side Key Gestures

I just received my Z Flip 5 and I was very disappointed when I couldn't find my favorite feature of the Z series. On the left is my Z Flip4 with accessibility side key gestures and the features is removed on the Z Flip5 on the right. Honestly this is one of the biggest reasons I purchased the phone because I loved the side key gestures on my s8 and s10e.

Hopefully this can be addressed in a software update in the near future. In the meantime, you can submit an error report in the Samsung Members app under the Support tab>Send feedback. The more people that report this, the more likely it can be added back in quickly. You aren't alone in missing this functionality. 🙂

Additionally, if you download the Samsung Good Lock app from the Galaxy App store and install the RegiStar module, you can enable back-tap or side-key functionality to bring up notifications. The MultiStar module has an "I ❤️ Foldables" option for some cover screen options too.

This is a very tall phone and it was the way I used my Flip 4 constantly. Thinking of returning the Flip 5 and keeping the 4. This makes no sense to me.

There are even more features missing such as clockface from good lock (you can download a separate apk for it) which means no customization for always-on-display. Also, Hex themes don't work on OneUI 5.1.1 which is super annoying. I almost returned my flip 5 because of these issues.

I'm almost positive there will be imminent releases for Good Lock's Clockface app, in addition to bug fixes, as the device just came out. Be sure to report these issues nonetheless!

Finger Sensor Gesture missing on Flip5

Hello,

On the Z Flip5, I no longer see the finger sensor gesture shortcut options (Settings > Advanced features > Motion and gesture > finger sensor gesture).

Please bring back the ability to access the notification menu by using the finger sensor gesture. This was a HUGE benefit that I used countless times per day.
