I have no personal experience with the A16, but I previously owned the Z Flip 5. The battery was insufficient for me personally, being a sub 4,000 mah cell. That's just science... 3,700 is less than ~5,000. Smaller cell = shorter battery life. This issue has been addressed in the ZF7, btw, which now features a 4300 mah battery.

Since upgrading to the S24+, battery life has been a non-issue. I average 8hrs+ SOT.

I'm sure moto devices have fine battery life, but I personally wouldn't want to downgrade to a Moto due to the lesser hardware and subpar software support.

One thing about Samsung products that is truly the manufacturer's Achilles Heel is the batteries Samsung uses to power their products. So many reviews of tablets, smartphones, and wearable devices are full of negative reviews relating to battery life. I'm a former Motorola smartphone and tablet customer but decided to move into the Samsung product line thinking that move would be a step up in product quality. Check out the reviews of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7. Hundreds of customers complaining about horrible battery life. .My first Samsung purchase was the Galaxy A16 smartphone. Compared to my previous Motorola phone, I was shocked at how bad the A16 compared in the battery longevity issue. I would easily get 48 hours of use before having to recharge my Motorola phone. The Galaxy A16 wouldn't make it past 8 hours. I really liked the features of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 phone, and thinking maybe that model would have an improved battery, it didn't take long to realize that I was in no better situation than when I had the A16. If I don't plug in the charger at least 3 times daily, it shuts down due to lack of power. I've used Samsung products for long enough now to conclude that Motorola products are typically at a much better price point, but battery life puts Samsung products to shame. My next mobile purchase will be a Motorola label.

100% correct about software support, 2 years on a budget phone when Samsung offers 7 years on all of their A series phones should be a non-starter IMO. Even their flagship Razor phones only get 3 OS and 4 years of bi-monthly security patches.

Even OnePlus has a better software/security support policy (4/6 years).

Motorola is the worst for software support. New phones are still shipped with Android 15, update out of the box to 16. Which means now you only got one more OS on a budget phone. Awful policy.

I didn't realize it was that bad. The current version of that company has certainly tarnished the Motorola name.

They're now using a loophole in EU regulations to ship phones with zero updates ever. https://9to5google.com/2026/01/31/motorola-android-os-updates-moto-g17/

I read that yesterday. Considering the new Motorola Signature is 699£ they went with 7 years of updates. Doesn't mean 7 OS though just 7 urs of support. Which can be on any schedule of their choosing bi-monthly or even worse quarterly updates.

Truth in that article, those spending 150£ probably don't even bother to look at those details upon purchase.
