Samsung Wallet vs Google Wallet

As mentioned in previous posts I'm an iPhone user and used my apple pay EVERYWHERE lol now that I got the Fold 7 and part of Android (still learning) I'm wondering what would be better to use and which is mostly accepted everywhere? 🤔

Ecosystem: Samsung Wallet is exclusive to Samsung Galaxy devices. Google Wallet is available on all Android phones.

Features: Samsung Wallet offers a rewards program and deeper integration with Samsung's ecosystem. Google Wallet features easier integration with Google services.

Security: Both apps use tokenization and biometric authentication.

Accessibility: Samsung Wallet offers a quick-swipe shortcut from the bottom of the screen, while Google Wallet is accessed via app or power button.

Which is better?

Use Samsung Wallet if: You have a Samsung phone and want rewards, deeper integration, and to store items like digital car keys.

Use Google Wallet if: You have a non-Samsung Android phone, or prefer a simpler, more universal, and integrated experience with Google apps.

Welcome to Android and Samsung! I'm sure you'll find strong opinions in favor of both. My personal preference is Google Wallet. I use more than just Samsung devices, so regardless of which Android phone is my current primary, I can use the same wallet. As far as acceptance, they should both be accepted at any retailer in the US that uses NFC terminals (i.e., tap-to-pay).

It depends on where you live and do you take public transportation frequently. If you do take public transportation, Samsung wallet you don't have to open the wallet app you just tap the terminal.

I use both.

Welcome! As a former iPhone user, you'll find that the amount of choice this side of the walled garden can be overwhelming at first.

You'll find that Google Pay/Wallet is more ubiquitous and has availability similar to Apple Pay. Especially when it comes to ticketed events, boarding passes, etc., Samsung wallet will not always be an option. I have yet to encounter that in the opposite direction, so I tend to default to Google Wallet for most things.

Samsung Wallet is great and is often better integrated into your Galaxy devices, but the partnerships aren't always as broadly available. You can always use both services for different purposes if you'd like.

Samsung Wallet is a literal infant in the field of e-wallets. It is not universally usable if you travel out of the country. I find Samsung Wallet more convenient, though, on my watch since I pay most often with my watch (literally the #2 reason I bought the watch). I do have the watch set up to use Google Wallet upon double tapping the home button, but on the watch it requires switching the default wallet when you want to use one or the other. The phone has no such requirement.

Everyone's giving you long drawn out explanations, simply put use Google wallet that way it's not tied to just your Samsung device you can use it with any Google device so if you decide to change manufacturers you still have it.
