Notification Sound Won't Change

As of a few days ago the notification sounds for both Google Messages and Facebook Messenger won't change. They won't even go silent. I've been able to personalize every other app but these two stay the same. I've reset defaults as suggested but to no avail. I've switched to Samsung Messages for now with no issue but Facebook Messenger still has the annoying brightline preloaded sound. This issue first started on my Flip 7 but has carried over to my Fold 7. Has anyone had this issue and been able to solve it?

Go into Facebook messenger app settings > notifications & sounds > check ringtone and make sure "in-app sounds" is toggled on > then tap on customize notifications and select "alert" from the following menu.
From the same menu you can change "sound".
