Well, I was just out shopping and saw some lovely Samsung monitors that were just monitors, so if you really do not want a TV, you may as well return it while you can and pick something else.

I just bought the LS49CG954SNXZA monitor. All the smart features are really aggravating. I just want a monitor, but this is constantly popping up with stuff. I want it to leave me alone and just be a monitor. How do I turn all this off?

What Smart features could a monitor possibly have? Really, all a monitor needs to be able to to is display things. Does it not have a manual, app or control panel for settings?

Nowadays the manuals have to be downloaded which you find options for in the settings and will be redirected to a hot link to download PDF of entire manual.

I realize that (used to be on CD--just as annoying, give me a booklet any day.), but I'm still wondering what kind of smart features a monitor would have. Maybe I'm unimaginative, but I can't conceive of what they could add, or why any would be necessary but, then, I'm still using a 13 year old hi-rez dumb monitor that only displays what it's connected to.

exactly, but no, this has TV (netflix, disney+, etc) I mean I just wanted to turn it on once I unboxed it, but I had to set up accounts and what not. Now I constantly am bombarded with messages and menus. Really irritating me. I'm really sad as this monitor is beautiful, but I am considering returning it.

So, it's basically a TV that can be used as a monitor (as all modern TVs), but sold as a monitor.

Turn off the WIFI on it. And in the settings change it so it does not AutoStart smart hub. The monitor has a Linux operating system in it and it is essentially an OLED TV just manufactured in a computer monitor shell. With those settings changed it just boots directly into my windows screen and I receive no notifications. FYI if you are going to run it at 5120x1440 @240hz you need a VESA certified 2.1 Display Port cable DP80. The Display Port cable that comes with the monitor does not support the bandwidth needed for that resolution. They only make them 1.5 Feet long so your device needs to be super close to the monitor or you can use an HDMI 2.1 certified cable of any length and reach that resolution as well. The only time I connect the monitor back on WIFI is to check for the auto updates to the software and firmware every couple of months and then turn it back off.
