How are they created? What Is the function? Do tthey charge? Do they create additional lines?

from my understanding its digitally embedded in u your phone so you do not need a physical sim card that you pop in and out. i have one with my iphone the calling quality isn't good but I'm not sure if that is the reason bc of the esim.

@Merovigian It is the same as any carrier SIM except that instead of inserting a piece of plastic, you input the credentials.

Yes they charge just like a regular SIM.

If you have a physical SIM installed and you add an eSIM, you will have two lines.
