Unable to create custom stickers in Gallery

I'm having an issue creating stickers from the gallery.

In the past, we could long press to get a sticker selection and then manually edit that selection.

Now however, the ai selection makes it's selection, and we get no option to adjust that selection at all.

(For instance, I wanted just a head selection, but instead it selected the entire object with now option to crop or adjust it.)

Getting some videos posted on how these new tools can be used would be SO helpful, instead of only seeing 50,000 camera shootouts.

When you long press on the image, tap 3 dots >> Edit so you can make adjustment of the selection or draw something on it before saving.

When you finish adjusting/editing and tap save, it will show you options to save as image or save as sticker.

I think I found it...it's the 4 circles... why that isn't in the sticker section doesn't make intuitive sense, since it looks like it is intended as more manual sticker creation.

Maybe floating tool tips would be helpful to see what something is intended to be used for?

The biggest problem with new phone upgrades isn't hardware or even interface related....it's teaching people where things have been moved to and how to find them.

And that's oneui system wide. Great example is setting custom notification sounds for individual apps.

It's great you added granular categories to the creation, bit you buried it in two separate locations, and users can't use help to locate it.
Without a youtuber discovering it and posting about it, users would think we've lost features and not gained them.

There should be a whole you tube channel from Samsung showcasing features and how to use them.
(Kind of like a video wiki.)

This could even be linked to the phone tips app.

It's stupid that only people who seriously dig into their phone and research can actually use them properly.

Gee, this is annoying, it doesn't work on text pics. I create stickers off of text so I can easily use it as watermark!!! This new feature is soooo BS!!!!!!

In S21 and S22 ultra you could manually select objects, but in S24 ultra this feature is removed, and even worser 24 selects the object itself and you can't change what it has selected for you.

Example: You want to "select" a glas, but S24 selects the face, you can't change / select the glas ☹️

So 24 have removed manual selection, and also decided itself what it wants to select, and you can't change the object you want ☹️

Both this worked on S21 and S22

You can do manual selection editing a picture, and then selecting the left 4 dots.

Agree. This feature is so frustrating that I am thinking of ditching the s24 and going back to S22.

Thank you for this, I was really lost and confused!

I don't like that it was moved out of the sticker creation section. However I do appreciate that I can finally go and pre-select and edit what I want to use as a sticker before I'm ready to add it to a photo. However I wish after we selected and cropped the region we could go ahead and save that to a sticker!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you still have to go to an image after cropping with the 4 dor menu intellect ad sticker in order to save your selection as a sticker, correct. Also sorry that this wall text above is so convoluted I don't know how to word it better lol!

Long story short though your post helped me out a ton! Thank you!

This was my most used feature, and now it is completely gone on the S24Ultra. The AI has never once selected what I want correctly, so to remove manual selection means this feature is broken.

I have Gallery 15.1.03.5 & when I'm editing a photo, go to sticker, custom stickers, add, picker the transparent pgn that I want to use. It automatically erase parts of my sticker, cutting off other parts of it WITH NO CORRECTION OPTIONS. I DID NOT WANT IT EDITED, I LIKED THE PNG AS IS. My Note20 did not do this. It just added what I wanted without any automatic edits. CAN SAMSUNG FIX THIS EXPEDITIOUSLY...

Now I have a problem. I can't take any object to make a sticker. When I long press on an object noting happens and nothing is selected. Anybody with the same problem?

I agree. When you go to add a sticker and select the photo of origin, it doesn't let you edit the selection marquee. And if you do the other way around and go to the image first and long press on it and then go to edit the selection it only starts you with the part that it has previously selected as what it thinks is the sticker you want. Not the whole image. This is a disaster lol how could they possibly think that their AI would know which part of the photo you want without even the opportunity to write a prompt? This tool is broken.

Unfortunately this does not work. When you long tap the photo and press edit it only allows you to edit the sticker that it has created. You are not given the full photo to edit into a sticker. So if the AI doesn't successfully select the parts of the photo that you want to become a sticker you can't edit and include them

This new update is the absolute worst! I wish I could revert to the old one. Wiped all my settings and it ruined so many apps! You can't even select parts of pictures as a sticker to add on another photo. The new AI tells you what the sticker is and auto selects without giving you any choice of what to select or deselect. Do not download!

Working fine here. I just tried to create a sticker and it worked as it should.

Try resetting by pressing and holding power and vol down until the phone reboots.

Sounds like there was a glitch in the software update. Software updates don't break apps . If resetting your phone does not work, then you need to reflash your phone with the latest update after removing the apps, not working. I set my update to run only when connected to wifi and perfer to update through Samsung Smart Switch.

I can create a sticker if I go into a picture as an independent workflow or if I click on the AI function within an edit of another pic and hit the +button to select and then edit from there by clicking on the 3 dots after holding to select. What I can no longer do, is creat a sticker that is selectable/de-selectable/editable, outside of the AI function. It creates an auto clip of what is in the picture, that you are stuck with. It's either use the AI function and it will render the pic after editing or don't us AI and it forces the selected clip it chooses anyway.

I didn't have to reset my phone but I did restart it and the apps open now. Never had that issue before. One thing that the update did was reset all of the custom settings for layout and controls. Is that normal? My settings have always been the same after all the previous updates.

I'm not into stickers so you know much more about this than I do.

I suggest submitting an error report and see what they come back with.

Reproduce the issue and then open the Samsung Members app, click on Support (Lower right)->Feedback->Send Error Report, Remember to check on "Send System Data Log"
