Gemini is a terrible phone assistant

I don't believe this is just a "me" issue, I can ask Gemini to set a timer, outside of that, it's a gamble on how or where it creates tasks or reminders, and can't even give me directions to the address of one of my contacts.

Can we get a downgrade program?

I know this is admittedly a bit of a rant, but I can run a local LLM with full automations on my home network to automatically triage emails and OpenAI can now integrate into multiple services natively, but Gemini can't access my contacts?

The fold 7 is cool but these software transitions need significantly more focus, Samsung is losing the edge on a useful AI implementation

You don't have to use Gemini if you don't like it. You can set your desired digital assistant as default.

I agree with you 1000%. I shut Gemini off and use Bixby, but the phone doesn't seem to respond very well (and I've done the voice learning thing in the settings) usually it ends with me screaming for Bixby to open Spotify while I'm driving 😑

I asked it to text my brother once, it said "ok what's the message", I said the message, then it Google searched what I said 😒

Samsung doesn't make gemini, its a google product. If you have complaints about it, direct it to their support.

Its a partnership, Samsung has to give Gemini the capability to interact with Samsung apps, software, and data. Samsung is also promoting Gemini as the new do-it-all assistant. Samsung, as a partner and promoter of this new assistant, has a role and significant say in the (lack of) functionality being provided to its end-users. I could complain to Google, but I could also just buy a Google device where this functionality works natively, so I appreciate your input, but saying Samsung has zero influence or ownership in this is patently false

Gemini is still quite new and learning. Some "On Device" things it just can't do yet. It may be better on Pixel phones since it first debuted on them, and was only available on them for awhile when Gemini was first released.
