Is there anyway to get the ability to change home screen folder icons? That would be an amazing update and a way to not have to rely on 3rd party launchers while maintaining all of the great changes being made to the latest UI.

You can download Goodlock from the Galaxy Store. With that app and the module ThemePark you can download icon packs from the Playstore are apply them. No need for a 3rd party launcher. Good Lock and its suite of Modules is a 1st party app from Good Lock Labs, they work closely with Samsung to give the ability to customize almost everything on your phone.

You can change the shape and background color but I dont see how to change the look of a folder itself. Like assigning an icon for a folder (app group)

I am not understanding your want here, you want only icons in the folder to change? This is a sample of what I have done with Goodlock, HomeUp and Themepark. Different looks with different icon packs, Folder apps etc.

Let's take your Adele home screen. If you put your ring app, your health app and your galaxy store app in a group you will still see them as small icons in a group. As a folder. What I want is to be able to replace that group of small icons with 1 icon that represents that folder. (Get it???) By the way awesome home screens you have.

Yes that only changes the shape or color of the folder which shows up as a bunch of tiny app icons in a group. What I am referring to is to replace the bunch of tiny icons with 1 icon. So if I have an icon pack that has a Google logo, I would be able to replace that group of tiny app icons with the one Google logo. That logo would then upon tapping would open up to show all of the apps in that folder. (I hope that clarifies

Currently, no. Samsung doesn't let you do that yet. On the bottom where you see the 4×4 icons, those are vertical scrolling folders, you can basically make any kind of folder you want. I changed the folder to be a 1x1 multi scroll vertical folder. It is not a pop-up folder. I also have a stack of horizontal folders instead of dock on the bottom of my home screen.

Buckle up, because this is a bit of a convoluted workaround, but it will accomplish what you're asking for!

1) go into Theme Park and start making an icon pack. Use an icon pack, image, whatever you want as your folder cover. You're not actually going to set the icon pack, you're just using it to make sure the shape matches your other icons.

2) screenshot the icon in the edit list. In my case, I used an app drawer icon.

3) crop the screenshot to remove the text below the icon. If you don't do this, AI sticker will pick up the text and the next step won't work.

4) long press the icon in the cropped screenshot to save the icon as an AI sticker.

5) Open the Home Up module in Good Lock. Enable DIY Home.

6) Add the sticker to your home screen. Resize and adjust. Place it directly on top of your folder so that it hides the actual folder.

Ta-da! You have a folder with a cover.

Just checking in, were you able to use this workaround to approximate what you're wanting?

Would love this feature added as well.
When I use the default launcher I use a stack widget that has a photo widget and a folder widget (using Folder widget app from the Play Store). This helps with organizing and keeping my main screen somewhat "clean", but I do love widgets 🤭.

Yes, the only way is to use Nova Launcher for hidden pop-up folders. I have repeatedly asked for this feature in many Betas.

If Nova Launcher had stacked widgets I would use it again.
