Bixby vs Gemini

Before I got the s26 ultra, and I was still on an a series phone without bixby, I wondered

Would I use Bixby instead of Gemini, and which works better?

After having the S26 Ultra for 2 days, my answer is:Both

They have different uses.

Bixby understands your phone a lot better.

Gemini understands you better.

Use cases for bixby:

Setting an alarm

Finding a setting quickly

Changing a setting quickly

Opening an app

Sending a text

Doing a simple app action

For these, I'd advise using bixby, as it really knows the phone inside out.

Use cases for Gemini:

Finding Music to play in your music app (i.e. Hey Google, play me songs from [artist name])

Setting multiple alarms (if you want an alarm every hour let's say, from 7am to 9am, and you already have some alarms set up, but off, bixby will turn on those alarms, if the are between 7am and 9am, even if they are not every hour, Gemini will turn on alarms every hour, like you asked.)

Calling or texting someone whose name the Bixby has trouble understanding, bixby looks for how it understood what you said, in its exact spelling, Gemini is more flexible.

i prefer gemini since bixby can't do half of what gemini can do, at least in my opinion. it has a pretty hard time responding to wake up like snoozing my alarm or answering calls, or waking up without me calling her name, gemini doesn't have those issues as far as i know. but you have a great point. one is made for the phone and one is made for us, so they work very differently from each other. i just think gemini is much more polished!

Correct, Gemini can do a lot more.
At the moment I'm playing around with bixby a bit, I'll see exactly how I'll end up using them over the next few days.

@RevengeOneUI True! Both Bixby and Gemini are tools with some overlapping capabilities but designed to different core functions.

Like a circular saw and a band saw. Both are saws and can cut wood. But they have their areas of specialty which the other can't do.

I disagree with the finding music. Gemini is horrid at finding music in Spotify. Will often play the wrong version of songs, like edited. And sometimes plays the wrong songs all together.

Could be, to be honest I don't really use it for that, i just assumed. Bixby is better at that?

Google is horrid at it for some reason. Has a hard time understanding artist names. Certain songs I request Gemini to play it'll just play the wrong song entirely. Never had Bixby mess up. I use that feature a lot while I'm driving and don't wanna scroll thru Spotify for a song. I think Bixby has been upgraded a lot for the S26. I'm gonna use it as my main assistant and see how it does.

I've had trouble with bixby understanding complicated names and things, so I thought gemini would have been better. I'll have to play around a bit more.
