Google Messages is rolling out a new "Trash" folder, acting as a 30-day safety net for deleted conversations. Currently appearing in beta, this feature allows users to restore accidentally deleted chats, which are held for 30 days before permanent removal. Deleted conversations can be accessed via the profile menu.

Key Details About the Google Messages Trash Feature:

How it Works: Instead of immediate deletion, selecting "Delete" now moves conversations to a "Trash" folder, which is located between "Archived" and "Spam & blocked" in the menu.
Recovery: Deleted messages are kept for 30 days, allowing users to restore them to their main inbox during this period.
Availability: The feature is rolling out to beta testers (specifically, version 20260306_02_RC00 and later).

In Google Messages, ensure Group Messaging is set to "Send an MMS reply to all recipients" in Settings > Advanced. Enable "Auto-download MMS" in the same menu, verify mobile data is on, and restart your phone. Clearing the app cache or storage can also resolve this issue.

If these do not work, it may be a carrier issue.

Hmm so wait, make sure i read that right. They have a deletion option like the samsung messages? I would've thought google would've had that on day one. I strongly like samsung messages, google messages it fine, just not my style.

Open Google Messages
Click on your Profile upper right
You should see the following:
Click on Trash
Select the messages you want to restore
Click Restore Icon at top
