The user is in a Microsoft 365 hybrid environment and has their 365 work account successfully added to the Samsung Email app. From the Samsung Contacts app, the user is able to search the Global Address List (GAL) without issue. GAL entries appear in the search results, however, when the user attempts to open any of these contacts, none of the contact details are displayed and an error message appears (screenshot attached).

Email synchronization itself appears to be functioning as expected, this issue seems limited to viewing GAL contact details within the Samsung Contacts app.

Can you please advise whether:

This functionality can be enabled or unlocked within Samsung Email/Contacts, or

Access to GAL contact details is intentionally restricted by design?

Any guidance on configuration requirements or known limitations would be greatly appreciated.

That will provide the best compatibility and usability with that work account.

Thank you for the recommendation.

We are actively working toward standardizing on the MS Outlook app across our environment, as we agree it offers the best compatibility with Microsoft 365. In this particular case, however, the user is a high‑priority individual and has been resistant to changing applications.

Because of this, we were hoping to determine whether there are any supported options or exceptions that would allow full GAL contact detail access within Samsung Email/Contacts for this user, or if this limitation is by design and cannot be adjusted.

Any clarification you can provide would help us fully evaluate all possible alternatives before enforcing a change.

Even VIPs need to be told sometimes that something can't be done. If there was a way to export the GAL into their Samsung Contacts, that might be a solution. Otherwise, if your organization's GAL is on the MS exchange server, it's likely not possible.

Suggest you discuss it with the individual and learn , document their concerns and schedule a follow up to show how it works today vs. Future
If possible check his phone and look for any settings or edits he's using as most people tweak / customize their apps to display or work in way they prefer. For example Outlook contacts can be set to display via first name, last name or last name, first name... or by conversation, etc.
If possible get a separate phone and mirror his current settings so you can review what shows first / top or requires one to scroll.
Samsung phone displays in Outlook but frequently requires one to show next to see more info.
Also check how many unique contacts are loaded and # of duplicates, if dupes, they need linked to show all their info
Good luck
