I need to know why my phone only charges my battery to 80% not 100%

If your phone is only charging to 80%, you most likely have battery protection turned on.

Go to Settings > Battery > Battery protection and adjust your settings to your preferences

I, personally, am not happy about being forced to begin using Google messages. I hated it when it came pre-installed on any of my phones, so I either un-installed it or disabled it, and went back to using Samsung messages. Samsung messages should be a pre-installed app on ALL Samsung phones, but in recent phone purchases, it has begun to look like Samsung may be rolling over to allow Google to run the market, which in my opinion is frustrating.

As a peer user, I understand how disappointing this change can be. However, it isn't totally unexpected.

Samsung announced in 2024 that they would be transitioning to Google Messages as the default messaging app. At this point, Samsung has given users 2 years to make transition themselves. They are now enforcing the change.

Unfortunately, the transition away from Samsung Messages seems to be a decision based on infrastructure more than anything else. Because the US lacks a consistently accessible carrier-based RCS infrastructure, Samsung Messages has been unable to offer a fully-featured modern messaging experience to date.

Unfortunately, you have likely chosen the wrong device if you do not want to use Google apps and services. Because Samsung devices run Android, which is a Google product, they require Google apps and services in order to function.

If you don't want to use Google Messages, you don't have to. Alternative SMS apps like Textra, Chomp, and Handcent remain available in the Play Store.
