Samsung has finally chimed in on the future of Samsung Messages, the handwriting has been on the wall since the S24 series made Google Messages the default messaging app.

In July of this year Samsung Messages will cease to function, they have put out a statement regarding an end of service announcement!

I know for many of you this will be extremely upsetting.

https://www.samsung.com/us/apps/samsung-messages/

Yeah, I change my phone background nearly every day.

But to be honest, a custom background in a text messaging chat at my age helps me to quickly know that I'm chatting with the right person when swapping through chats. Different colors don't seem to hack it. It is the only feature that I miss from Samsung Messages.

I do as well, but prefer a custom background.

It is especially helpful in group chats when some of the same people are in seperate groups.

The custom backgrounds are nice, but Samsung messages actually have a pure black background, not that dark gray **bleep**.
That on top of custom chat colors is glorious.

It's like buying a car. All of them will get you from point to point, some just have nicer features than others.

I've jumped between the 2 in the last few years. Google messages are more functional, while Samsung messages are better to look at. I have a close friend that is essentially deaf so we spend a lot of time messaging back and forth when playing online.

Trash can is rolling out now, one less thing to worry about.

If you have the swipe set to archive, I don't understand how you can accidentally delete messages, It's a 3 step process, long press, go to top to delete, confirm the delete.

I will give you categories, it's the inly thing I miss from Samsung Messages.

Well that sucks, because the Group text feature on Samsung is much better than Google. It allows me to categorize different groups which I can easily get to , which I use quite often. Google just buries it down the list. Total problem for me.
