Please Samsung don't make your loyal users have to switch to Google Messages. This is so unfair and almost like y'all are selling out!

I'm thinking about upgrading to the S 26 Ultra from the S 25 Ultra, but I'm hearing that Samsung messages is not in the store to download. Is this true? This is a deal breaker for me!

Samsung Messages has been officially deprecated on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, as Samsung has transitioned to Google Messages as the default messaging application.

The future of Samsung Messages has been uncertain for quite some time. @Pianodude58 is correct, In 2024, Samsung announced that they would be transitioning to Google messages as the default messaging app. At this point, users have had 2 years' notice to transition to the new app and it is highly likely that all US-based Samsung users will need to make the switch at some point.

Please be aware that RCS support for Samsung messages may be limited or inconsistent depending on your carrier.

At present, Google Messages remains the most reliable way for most users to access advanced messaging features.

I was going to upgrade, but too many issues with it. Sticking with my S25 Ultra.
