how is samsung messages like?

i have never actually used it before because, you guessed it! my phone always had google messages set as the default messaging app since i got it. so obviously, i don't understand the outrage that much since i'm so used to google's app.

i can't switch to samsung's since i need rcs to text with my boyfriend, so y'all are free to protest and vent here. i GOTTA know what the fuss is about.❤️‍🩹

Not sure why all the complaints some say themes not available on Google messages as a reason I'm sure theres others but personally I have never had a problem with Google messages

Go look in Theme store and look at some of those themes they put on top of Samsung Messages. Most of them 🤢🤮

Don't get me wrong, I customize the heck out of phone. There are on my homescreen access to 26 apps, you would never now it. I don't like people to see what apps I use.

I need RCS to work with iPhones!
Google gives me that!

I use icon packs and Themepark to apply them. Everything else is custom widgets using KWGT. The top widget opens 5 different apps that I added to the Template.
The bottom widget is mapped to all my financial apps. The dock with phone, etc is a stack with 4 of the same widget with different apps.

I think that it boils down to an identity crisis. (Hear me out, please.) Some users love Samsung Messages because it matches the One UI theme with the rest of the phone. The ability to personalize each chat screen is highly prized and set the user's phone apart from other messaging apps, like iMessages. Unfortunately, Samson Messages is 1990s and 2000s technology, so to compete with other messaging app services found in RCS, Samsung made their default messaging app, Google Messages, which has RCS and allows, amoung other features, for high resolution images and videos to be shared without a Quick Share link, is more secure, and has added some AI features, all of which some Samsung Messages users say that they don't care about. And for them, I think, it feels like a personal attack on their freedom of expression. They want their themes (aesthics, individuation) and don't care about RCS (functions, conformity). And despite their claims of Samsung loyalty, it appears that some would rather abandon Samsung all together over this change, rather than see Samsung become a more modern and competitive ecosystem in the world market.

I myself have stayed with Samsung because I love the personalization. I have paid for themes and now part of what I've paid for doesn't work. I do not like the Google messages at all. I understand and agree with updating the system. As for being competitive in the world market Samsung has never had an issue with that. If they are going to change to different messaging maybe if it was more in line of what their customers where use to instead of it feeling more like an apple phone app maybe people wouldn't be so upset. What's next no customization or is it going to be just another iphone!

I understand and agree with most of what you've written. I too love the personalization that an Android phone allows.

On a global market, Samsung has the lion's share, and those users are already adopting Google Messages by default since the release of the s21. But here in the US, the majority of phone users use iPhones. They have to compete here more intensely, and they have slowed the transition to Google Messages here.

Can you name me one messaging app that is 'more in line of what [their] customers were [where] use to' that has RCS, is cross platformed (available on laptops, desktops, and conpatable with iMessages), and doesn't require both parties to be on the same app?
