The first Samsung phone I bought was the Galaxy S5 and I have been a loyal Samsung customer since then. Watches, TV's, refrigerator, washer & dryer are among the Samsung products I own. I've advocated Samsung phones to friends and family as the best smartphones to buy. Im sad to say that is no longer the case. My faith in Samsung began breaking down with my Galaxy S 21. The phone was stolen when my home was broken into. I remotely locked the phone for security. I then contacted Samsung asking them to blacklist the phone to prevent it form being sold or used elsewhere. They refused to do anything to stop someone else from using the phone. Thebnext insult was with my Galaxy Note 10+. The day after my warranty expired my Note 10+ was bricked after a software update from Samsung. I contacted Samsung support and was informed that the phone was outdated and I needed to purchase a new phone. My other option was to pay Samsung to fix it but they were unable to give me a price estimate on the cost of the repair. I would also have to pay for the shipping to mail my phone to them and be without a phone until it was repaired. I was disappointed with Samsung yet I still had some faith. I bought a Note 20 Ultra 5g which was a great phone. That was the last flagship phone model of the Note series. And it was last Samsung phone to offer the memory expansion by SD card. All throughout this time I've watched Samsung sunset and deprecate all my favorite Samsung apps and offer me Google alternatives. Many of us Samsung loyal customers had high hopes for a Samsung OS alternative to android. But those hopes were dashed with the ending of the Tizen OS. When my Note 20 Ultra 5g suffered an unfortunate incident, I went with a Galaxy S 22 Ultra. Since buying this phone, the 5g antennas have had to be replaced 3 times while under warranty and Samsung still won't replace the phone. Since the warranty ended ive replaced the 5g antennas twice. The cause of the antenna issues has been traced to poorly desinged flex cable and connection and something in the security updates for the phone causing the antennas to burn out. I don't know how much of that is true. What i do know, is that if you search Galaxy S 22 no network connection, you will see posts by millions of people that have had antennas issues. And yet Samsung still won't take responsibility for the defect. I had thought paying the fees for the Smasung cares program would give me some benefits but I was wrong. By the way, the last time I talked with Samsung support about the antenna problem they're suggestion was for me to just by a new phone. And now the big event that showcases it all and has most Samsung owners in an uproar is the depreciation of Samsung messages and the suggested alternative of Google messages. As such, this S 22 Ultra will probably be my last Samsung purchase. I feel betrayed by Samsung. I feel that its now only a matter of time before it becomes "Samsung by Google".

The fact that Samsung has issued multiple warranty repairs for your device is an acknowledgement of a defect. Warranty repairs are only issued for confirmed manufacturing defects.

As for the Google issue, Samsung devices have relied on Google apps and services since the original Galaxy S.

The early Android ecosystem was heavily fragmented with each OEM doing their own skin, apps, and services. Fragmentation introduced a whole slew of problems (such as duplicate apps creating a confusing/overwhelming experience for the average user) that consolidation under the Google umbrella solves.

To say "Google is taking over Samsung" is akin to saying "gasoline is taking over my car."

While the continued strengthening of Google and Samsung's relationship may create difficult transitions for legacy Samsung users, a more unified Android experience will appeal to a broader user base and, ultimately, will be required to take on their biggest rival. 🍎

I understand what you're saying, unfortunately theres a lot of tribalism going on here. I love Samsung but I will criticize it where needed because I want it to get better, not worse. Many people voiced their concerns with Google, because of the current lawsuits, call outs and the like. People have a right to be concerned. I hope Samsung realizes that they should back away from Google a bit.

Don't be naive. I said a bit, meaning that I know Samsung runs with Google, we all know it's being pushed further away from what makes Samsung phones Samsung. Samsung should keep their Messenger App and make it better.

The point is Samsung feeling less Samsung. Stop being tribal and moving the goalpost. Everyone has a right to criticize and question a company they've been supporting. That's fine if you're okay with it, not everyone else has to be.
