I don't see anywhere in the article that @Dan2023 provided that Samsung will charge for the cloud backup. If they do, it will likely be the same as the other cloud services - an Initial amount free and charges for over that. Can you link to what you saw or provide a screen shot of any notification you got? You can always back up the old fashioned way - to a flash drive or computer - for free.

I got no such notice, but I also don't sync with one drive. My photos have always backed up to Google by default. OneDrive was always just an option that I chose not to use.

OneDrive upload from Gallery has been discontinued to force owners to use and pay for Samsung Cloud

As of April, Samsung is attempting to force Galaxy phone owners to use/pay for Samsung Cloud for auto upload of pictures taken with the phone, having disabled that function for OneDrive.

A measly 15 GB is the limit for free storage. I'd need to start paying over $US 10 a month for the privilege of abandoning what i already have for free with OneDrive.

Anyone know if this policy may be reversed?

Uploading to Google Drive is currently possible, for how long I don't know, and perhaps one or two other auto uploaders can possibly be configured.

This is a deal breaker for me and I'm abandoning Galaxy if this is final. This sort of top-down control of the user base is egregious and I doubt it will end here.

Thanks for any info.

"OneDrive integration will be ripped out of the Gallery app, though you'll still be able to backup photos to OneDrive using the dedicated OneDrive app if you want."

https://www.windowscentral.com/hardware/phones/samsung-to-drop-microsoft-onedrive-on-galaxy-phones-photo-cloud-backups-are-moving-to-a-new-service
