I have sensiyive photos that I would not want anyone to stumble upon. What is the best free lightweight app to hide these this of content?

Your best option would be to use the Secure Folder. It can be found in the Settings > Biometrics and security > Secure Folder.

Secure Folder is legit. But...make sure you manually back up those photos and videos onto your new phone, because as far as I know, samsung no longer offers backups FROM secure folder anymore. I might be wrong but I know read that somewhere

You are 100% right, there is no longer a backup or restore for secure folder.
