I just got my s6 Lite tab and love it, however I'm a little confused.

I keep reading online the pen does not need to be charged, however when I press the button on the pen it does instigate functions on my tablet without the nub touching the screen. In my mind it has to have a battery in it and be charged in order to do that. Am I wrong?

As long as you're within "Hover" range, clicking the button, if configured, will open the "Air Commands" menu. Those tablets and S-Pens that are powered (no battery but a capacitor) can initiate "Air Actions" from quite a distance away.

If you go to Settings->Advanced Features->S-Pen you will see an options for "Air Commands" and not "Air Actions" .
