AT&T Galaxy Tab S7 won't update

(In my previous post I thought it was an S9 5G when it is an S7 5G)

I purchased an unlocked AT&T galaxy tab 7 5G on ebay and it won't update. I heard someone mention to someone else with a similar problem that they need to have an active AT&T sim card in it for it to update. Can snubbed confirm this or give me an alternate solution?

It generally does need a active Sim to get updates or at very least a active plan some might sat try wifi for updates

I've tried updating it thru Samsung Smartwatch , it says there's an update, but it won't complete the update saying there's an error. On wifi, I don't even get that far, which is why I'm tending to believe i need to get a prepaid AT&T SIM card for it to work
