Dead Tablet Screen

I have a Galaxy Tab A 10.1”, WiFi-only tablet that came out in May 2016.

I know it's LONG past its Warranty period, but my screen is completely black when I turn on the tablet. This happened about 2 months ago & I don't know what caused it.

Its never been bumped, hit, dropped or been wet or in the dirt/sand.

Which route should I take?
A. Since some companies do this with phones, is there a trade-in policy either through Samsung (since it's their brand tablet) or though another company?

B. Should I try those screen fixit places seen in malls & some shopping centers?

I would suggest taking it to a repair center and seeing if they can order a new screen for it.

I, personally, wouldn't bother getting a new screen for an 8 year old tablet. I'd just price a new one. I'm sure you got your money's worth out of the Tab A. A new screen+ labor has got to cost at least half the price of a new one of any brand and a repair might bring to light other issues.

I'm going to bring it to a repair store & kiosk to find out the cost, but due to its age, it may be better to get a new tablet. I don't know if mine gets updates anymore.

Thank you for the replies.

Absolutely it would be better to get a new, inexpensive tablet. Your tablet stopped receiving updates about six years ago. Many newer apps will likely not run on that old OS which may be Android 6 or 7.
