How to get software update on my tablet?

How do I get a software up date for my tablet. I have a tab A most of my apps don't really work

Are you talking about the original Galaxy Tab A released in 2015? The final Android update for the Galaxy Tab A was Android 11. The final security patch was done in December of 2022. You will no longer be getting any updates for android, any security patches, or any other updates.

Try a Factory Reset and don't install the backup. Ten install the apps that you currently use. That will get rid of unnecessary cpu amd memory usage, free up some storage and the Tab should run like new.

This will delete your downloads and documents and pictures so back them first if you want to retain them.

This is bad advice. This tablet is too old, it no longer is supported with security updates and should be replaced with something newer.

Many, many people cannot or will not replace a working older tablet and starting fresh usually solves any performance issues.

Remember that tablets while still getting security updates, only get them at best quarterly or biannually to begin with.
