Thank you, That helped. I also used Force Stop and Disable on the Verizon apps that I can see in SETTINGS > APPS. But I think now I have a new problem, or maybe it is an existing problem that the notifications were masking.

With the SIM card out, the tablet appears to now be stable, but something running in the background that I can't see or don't know what to look for, is sucking the battery down unusually fast. If I have to use this tablet during an emergency situation, I need it to be very miserly with battery power consumption.

I will be using this tablet for Winlink Express (app name is WoAD) and fldigi (app name AndFlmsg) and maybe other digital data apps connected to a ham radio using Bluetooth. The purpose is to provide emergency communications following a tornado, or hurricane, or some other natural disaster, durin he time between the disaster when wire-line phone, cell phone, and internet service and electric power is taken out by the disaster, and the cellphone companies are able to get in and set up their towers-on-wheels. I have some backup battery power that can recharge the S7+ tablet twice to full capacity, but that probably will not be enough with this excessive power drain.

Verizon support has been helpful - they did tell me how to find the kinda-sorta hidden Factory Reset, but that is as far as they will go.

If I can't find a way to stop that power drain, I will have to give up on this tablet and find another solution that does not involve spending big bucks for a WiFi-only tablet (I have a couple good laptop, but battery life is 3-4 hours at most.)

Does anyone have suggestions for what to look for to resolve this power consumption problem?

How Do I Get Rid Of Constant Get Mobile Data PopUps? (S7+ - SM-T978U)

I have recently squired a 2nd Galaxy S7+ (SM-T978U) tablet that I intend to use exclusively with Amateur Radio apps such as Winlink on Android (app name WoAD) and other data apps that work with a two-way radio through Bluetooth. This tablet was originally used with Verizon mobile data plan. The Verizon account has been turned off.

I am getting constant messages such as the one shown in the Notification in the attached photo and other nags. There has been a couple times that I have not been able to use anything on the tablet after a restart displaying a screen that forces me to go to a setup screen for mobile data. I have used the Factory Reset 3 times, trying it both with the SIM card installed or removed. I have everything that I can find in Settings to disable mobile data, but I am still getting these irritating nags.

Can anyone tell me how to permanently (other than sending it to a landfill) get rid of this problem? Reconnecting a mobile data plan is not an option. Once I get it set up, I will also be frequently turning off WiFi using only Bluetooth to connect to a KISS TNC in the radio. I am active with the Amateur Radio Emergency Service and Skywarn. I need this tablet to be as conservative as possible for battery usage.. Sim the mobile data account was turned off, battery usage has increased a lot, probably due to it constantly searching for a mobile connection. That is my best guess. Turning off mobile data via the home screen pull-down menu does not appear to help. I still get notifications to connect mobile data.

Thank you for your help!

Hello DaveM1785,

Did you know you can block notifications you don't want. By following these steps, it will assist with that action. First, navigate to Settings, tap Notifications. Tap More, then tap Most recent, and then tap All. The dropdown menu will be set to Most recent by default. We also have this article for review https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS10002524/, if the option to disable the notification is available, it can be found there.

That is great! We are so happy to hear that has worked out for you, DaveM1785. With the power consumption concern we suggest reviewing our article here https://www.samsung.com/us/support/galaxy-battery/optimization/ to assist with that aspect. Understanding the factors and using the settings recommended through the article will help you use the battery more efficiently and for a longer period of time, so please give this a try.
