Fix Secure Folder Bug where apps inside the Secure Folder cannot open from or save files to Secure Folder

The UI 8 update removed the ability of apps inside the Secure Folder to open from or save to files in the Secure folder. This bug has been reported using the Members App by several users with different generation Galaxy S phones (I have an S23 Ultra) but this bug has not yet been fixed in the multiple updates released since then.

Hope this is taken care of in One UI 8.5, if not before. Just posting here to raise the awareness so it can be reported if it has not yet been fixed.

The same is happening to my XCover7 Pro since I updated it to UI8 . My older XCover6 Pro is still on UI7 and the issue with secure folder is not there.

Why does Samung not make an official statement to this issue?

And we all know that its the com.android.documentsui that is causing the problem. For a test, I downgraded it to version 14 and o wonder, apps in the secure folder could then access files INSIDE the secure folder but not OUTSIDE the secure folder, as it should be!

If I can fix it that way, should the UI Beta team not be able to fix it as well? Please give the com.android.documentsui the proper permissions and all is good!

The last december update did not fix the bug :-(. Still, apps INSIDE the secure folder can still access data OUTSIDE the secure folder but not INSIDE the the secure folder. I would call it a loose-loose situatuion :-), because like this, the secure folder is simply useless. Please fix that documentsUI file!

Indeed. I am hoping this is fixed in the One UI 8.5 Beta which will indicate that they are at least working on it or have a solution. 😞

Hope someone who has installed the One UI 8.5 Beta can check and let us know.

You're just forwarding it to the relevant team but nothing further brings up the solution as we can see in the one UI 8.5 Public Beta

The issue still remains the same for auto lock immediate feature and file access for secure folder

Despite thousands of people reported in Samsung members, Samsung community, reddit and other forums across the internet your so called relevant Samsung team couldn't figured out any solution even ahed of the new phone launch happening in just another week

So pathetic!

Disappointing. Samsung is no longer a company that provides meaningful customer service. Without secure folder, there is no reason to continue buying Samsung phones and tablets. Too bad.

The recent Google Play System update fixed this issue.

Thanks to all who kept pushing Samsung to fix this issue. Took a few months but at least it got done!

On my XCover7 pro it FINALLY got fixed with the February update under UI8.0
