Regarding Google Messages crashing/not functioning when...

Trying to use it in the "Share" option without Messages being opened already (or running in the background). The issue is when opening an image in Gallery for example (without Google Messages already opened) and using the share function, then choosing Google Messages directly (not a contact that may already show among choices), the Messages app will either not funciton, or crash, with an info pop-up. It fails when using another app like YouTube and using its share function directly to Google Messages, and it crashes/closes as well. I had the same issue.

Thanks to @Tidbitty posting a link in a relevant thread regarding this issue as being on the beta version of Google Messages. I looked into that myself. I uninstalled the it after leaving the Messages beta, installed the regular Google Messages and now the share funciton works fine.

I also use the Google messages Beta version, and I think the update that happened today fixed the problem! I've shared multiple things without any problems finally.

Does anyone think 🤔 it's better to use the beta or not use the beta for Google messages? Sometimes I have a problem so I'm just wondering what everyone's opinion is that uses it. I don't want to have to keep uninstalling and reinstalling it

The beta affords you the opportunity to use new features and fixes before they release to a wider audience. It also exposes you to bugs due to the nature of it being beta. Only you can answer what is best for you.
