But there"s one thing that I think everyone could agree on would be A-MA-ZING to have and Super helpful! A way for pictures to be saved to a Cloud type thing.... (For example, how Iphone saved fotos to iCloud) I'm paying for extra storage with OneDrive and just would rather pay that with Samsung to make it easier. So basically, I want to be able to use the native gallery app but the pictures not be stored on my phones storage (they all be saved on a cloud) But you're still able to see them when going to send turn through somewhere (for example in messages, or socials, when your selecting an image to send)

It is not currently an option, I'm saying it would be absolutely A-MA-ZING to have that added! I tend to take many pictures/videos, so it ends up adding to and taking up loads of storage on my phone.... (I only have 128GB) So it would be awesome to be able to have a feature like that! I pay for the Microsoft extra storage... and have to delete the pictures off my gallery to get the storage back... I'd much rather pay Samsung for cloud storage that was offered like this!

Samsung used to have cloud storage until a few years ago, but it closed it down and suggested that we use OneDrive to back up our photos.

They still have some cloud services to back up your device settings and to temporarily store images for transfer using Quick Share, but that's about it, I think.

https://www.samsung.com/ae/support/mobile-devices/changes-to-gallery-sync-samsung-cloud-drive-and-premium-storage/#:~:text=%E2%80%98Gallery%20Sync%E2%80%99%2C%20%E2%80%98My%20Files%E2%80%99%20and%20Premium%20storage%20accounts,the%20photos%2C%20videos%20and%20files%20that%20you%20want

Yeah... I've done some investigating, but that's it.... But I find it kinda redundant, we keep our pictures for easy access. But having to upload it to OneDrive for storage (then to save that internal storage, delete the picture off the phones Gallery) but when for you say your in messages and want to send said picture, you can't just click the plus sign and select it... You have to go into OneDrive & download the picture, just to be able to send it

Well, you can click the photo in OneDrive and create a link from the app and send that via text, email, or whatever. You don't have to download it, and the recipient doesn't need a Microsoft account either to view the image.

How to Create a Link in the OneDrive App
Creating a shareable link in the OneDrive app is simple and allows you to share files or folders with others. Here's how you can do it:

Steps to Create a Link in the OneDrive Mobile App

Open the OneDrive App:
Launch the OneDrive app on your device and sign in if you haven’t already.

Locate the File or Folder:
Navigate to the file or folder you want to share.

Tap the Three Dots (More Options):
Next to the file or folder, tap the three dots or press and hold the item to open the options menu.

Select "Share":
From the menu, choose the "Share" option.

Generate a Link:

Tap "Copy link" or "Create link" (the wording may vary depending on your app version).
You can adjust permissions (e.g., "Anyone with the link," "View only," or "Edit access") by selecting the settings icon or similar option.

Copy or Share the Link:
Once the link is generated, you can copy it to your clipboard or share it directly via email, messaging apps, or social media.

Steps to Create a Link in the OneDrive Desktop App

Open OneDrive:
Open the OneDrive folder on your computer.

Right-Click the File or Folder:
Find the file or folder you want to share, then right-click it.

Select "Share":
Choose the "Share" option from the context menu.

Adjust Permissions:
In the pop-up window, set permissions (e.g., "Anyone with the link" or "Specific people").

Copy the Link:
Click "Copy link" to generate and copy the shareable link.

This process ensures you can share files securely and conveniently. Let me know if you need further clarification! 😊

That's what Google Photos is for. Your photos automatically back up from the Gallery to Google Photos. It is a true backup, not a sync. If you delete a photo from your gallery, it remains in Google photos. If you delete it from Google Photos, it deletes it from both Google Photos and your Gallery. This is on by default and you have to specifically turn it off. Samsung backup does not save photos because Google does. Gallery only syncs with OneDrive, so if you delete a photo from either entity, it is gone - unless you moved it to a computer, flash drive, or an external drive. SD So, if you are paying for extra cloud space, I'd put my money on buying extra space from Google. Since I have an A54, I still have an SD card, and I have the option to backup (not sync) my photos to OneDrive. This option is not available on phones without an SD card. Samsung discontinued their cloud services a couple of years ago. My guess is because they had a lot of abandoned accounts taking up server space. I do not believe that with the options of OneDrive and Google available that they would bring back cloud storage (even for a fee).

Actually, you can backup your photos on OneDrive tooo, it's an option up can mess around with. I've got an s24 and it let me backup to OneDrive, but it's limited storage on either OneDrive or Google Fotos without paying. And what I'm looking for is being up to clear up Internal Storage on my phone, so backing it up on a cloud and deleting it off my internal storage. For example, when you're in the messages app, be able to just select a picture (when you hit the plus sign to add a picture and just send it) as if it was still in my Gallery (but it not be in my internal storage, rather in a cloud) But having it uploaded in Google fotos & deleted off my internal storage; you have to either download the picture to be able to send it from within messages or, go into the Google photos app, select the picture you're wanting to send, look for the contact you're trying to send it to... extra steps....
Idk if I made more sense now

I believe which location to select for photos is a function of the particular app. For instance, Messages (Google or Samsung) only allow you to select from the Gallery (Which makes no sense to me - Google Messages should let you select from Google Photos, at the very least.), while FB Messenger allows you to select from Gallery or Google Photos and Instagram only lets you select the Gallery, etc. It's crazy - IMO, one should be able to select from any photo storage location.

I use Google Messages since Samsung started letting people know that it would be transitioning that to be to be the primary texting app. But as far as I know, you can't switch the default app of where to select photos from, I've looked through ANYTHING... And that's the thing, you may be able to do it in one place, but not in others... So it would just be easier to integrate something like this to make it seamless.

Also, you can access your images stored on your OneDrive from within the both messaging apps. The only advantages of sending a link, whether from OneDrive or Quick Share, is that the files don't get compressed.

Besides, I would suspect that most people share recent photos that are already on their phones, then from their cloud storage.

As I said, it makes absolutely no sense at all to me that Google Messages - a Google app - will not allow it's own photo service as an option from where to select photos. Especially since photos is integrated with the Gallery.

It does seem that the restriction to Gallery may be a Samsung thing, but even that makes no sense, since they have the integration and sync with the other services.

In any case, if you go to whichever cloud storage location you use, you can select the photo and then choose share, and share to a recipient in a message. If you send it to a recipient in an existing chat, it is the same as just responding from within the app (maybe an extra 2 steps). So, instead of tapping the "add photo" icon in the messaging app and selecting your photo, you would open your photo app, find your photo (which you have to do anyway), then tap the share icon and select messages and then the recipient. Do it enough times and it becomes a faster process. You can even create a little routine for opening the photo app of your choice without leaving messages. This routine would require you to download the Routines+ module in Good Lock so you can use the button action. While in any app where you want to share a photo, you would double tap your chosen button to open your photos app and then choose your photo and share.

That's very true, I but the images would still be compressed if sent the way you are suggesting.

If using OneDrive with the native integration with Samsing Gallery (sync) and NOT simply using OneDrive as a simple and dumb backup destination, you can already clean-up local storage and still see your OneDrive cloud-only picture in Samsung Gallery.

It all depends if you have configured OneDrive in your Samsung Gallery on your phone.

That's not entirely correct.

With OneDrive Sync, if you delete a photo from OneDrive or Samsung Gallery, the pictures move to the Recycle bin and can be restored. You don't need USB flash drive or a copy on a PC.

This is exactly what I want for a very simple use case. When I go on a trip and take dozens or hundreds of pictures and then decide to delete some to keep the best ones, I only need to do that clean-up once in Samsung Gallery and it will automatically replicate to OneDrive. Same concept applies for plenty of other pictures I don't want to backup because I don't need them all (group chat, random download on the internet...) I only want to delete the pictures ONCE and for all in the built-in Samsung gallery.

If I delete anything by mistake, I only need to go to the recycle bin.

My OneDrive is also automatically backed up locally at home on a Synology NAS which then also replicate the data to different data centers.

I have been using this for 5 years and I'm super happy with the automation, reliability and how easy it is to use.
