KS8000 Won't Turn On

JUMP TO SOLUTION

Hi,

I recently had to turn off the circuit breaker in the same room the TV is connected to to install a ceiling fan, and I currently do not have a surge protector for the TV. I installed the fan, tried turning on the TV the next day and it tries to turn on, gets to the point where it looks like it will turn on but then turns back off. It then cycles through this for the remaining time, and the only way to make it stop is to pull the power cord. The remote controller looks like it registers with the TV, so after reading some other threads, that does not seem to be it.

I really hope it's not the case where I am now having power issues. Does anyone know anything I can try doing here?

I would recommend having a service tech take a look at the unit. I can get that set up for you if you would like. Please send us a private message to http://bit.ly/2CGMMUe.

Have you tried using an outlet on a different breaker?

When was the television purchased? Have you tried unplugging it for 5 minutes?

It was purchased in November of 2016.

Yes, I have tried that, and it keeps doing the same thing.

Both the "Samsung" text that can emit light on the bottom middle of the screen and the red light are active.

The process when I plug the TV back in is:
1) Red light is steady and then the TV automatically tries to turn on.
2) Red light goes off and the TV backlight appears for a second or two, then goes to black
3) The "Samsung" text on the bottom, middle of the TV lights up for a second or two then disappears.
4) Red light comes back on

Then the cycle repeats infinitely.

Just to give you guys an update, the certified TV specialists say that the panel has gone bad, which means the TV is unrepairable.

This is a 2 year old TV, with a person who takes very good care of all their electronics. I get things happen, and I'm happy to have paid for a new power supply or board, but now I'm out $1,400 because of this.

I can't begin to express how annoyed I am about this, and I hold Samsung completely accountable for this. The KS8000 was one of the top of the line TV's two years ago when I bought it, and I held high standards. I didn't go for cheap TVs for a reason. I also have Samsung in a lot of other parts of my house, and this is the end for me if Samsung doesn't make this right.

Absolutely ridiculous...

That's why I got my KS8000 at Costco. Their Concierge Service is FANTASTIC!! Plus they add a year to the warranty and SquareTrade 4 Year Warranty. Just in case . . .

Right off the top I had problems and Costco got me right to Samsung American TS that gave me new TV due to bad firmware.

This is scary though. Since the 2016 line was the last of the "good" ones. Until their next big product comes out, which was kinda announced yesterday and due to be foramlly announced soon . . . all else is going to be "Stop Gap Junk!"
