Can anyone tell me what the discoloration is caused from or if it is common in the q80t series t v? I've only had it a few months.

Its called screen burn-in. Sadly thrre is no way to fix this. If your warranty hasnt run out then you'll have to replace it otherwise theres nothing you can do about it. Sorry, try contacting Samsung.

Thank you! Do you know what causes it? My warranty should still be could I have only had this t.v since December and purchased an extended warranty.

It could just be wear, or if your getting a flame and heating it up. Most of the time though its because of keeping the TV at peak brightness levels (for example: constantly having a white image on full brightness).

If this is occurring on all sources and inputs, I would recommend service. Have you tried unplugging it for 5 minutes?

I have not tried that. Should I make sure the t.v is off before doing so?

You can, but it doesn't really matter since they're designed with power outages in mind.

I tried that it is still there. The t.v isn't that would it be covered under warranty?
