Older updates won't appear. I don't care about the 2025 updates, just let me have the Nov 2024 update so I can have my circle to search back (and hopefully be able to add my debit card to my wallet again). My Flip5 screen broke about a month ago (that I still owe $600 on, yippee..), so I bought the A35. I didn't expect to have circle to search but I should at least have the ability to add my debit card to Samsung wallet or even google wallet. So when looking into this, that is when I discovered my phone is missing updates.

My A35 5G shows the Security Patch Level date as May 1 2024. In settings, under the security and privacy section, it shows that a security update is needed. I click the notice and the page shows options for security updates and google play system updates. The google play system shows a green check mark next to it, but the security update has an orange exclamation mark. So I click onto the security update option and when it loads it's stating my phone is up to date - no update available. Below is what I have tried to do to resolve this issue, but none have worked.

- turn phone off and back on.

- insure connection to Wi-Fi network with plenty of battery life involved.

- checked internal storage (38% used).

- factory reset the phone.

- turned on safe mode to check for update.

- turned phone off, removed sim card holder, turned phone back on, checked for updates without sim inserted. After returning Sim card to phone, I checked again.

- turned phone off, removed sim card holder, inserted boyfriend's sim card from a different carrier into my A35, turned my phone back on, checked for updates, states software is up to date (even with my security settings stating  to check for an update).

- Downloaded Smart Switch to my windows laptop, connected the phone to the laptop, and checking for updates via Smart Switch application using the laptop.

- Called my carrier, Verizon, they had me factory reset the phone (as mentioned above) and attempted to help. After 45 minutes they decided to put me on a 3 way call with them and Samsung's help center. After Samsung confirmed my phone info with Verizon, the Samsung rep informed the Verizon rep that they will handle things from here (at this point Verizon leaves the phone call).

- The Samsung rep had me on hold for a long time and returned stating that software updates are quarterly for my phone. I explained that I understood this as I've been doing extensive research on these updates and asked why I cannot at least have the 2024 update applied.

- This is when the Samsung rep told me in order to do that I would need to call my carrier and get on a 3 way call with the carrier and Samsung's rep. I told her that is what I did and she told the Verizon rep she would handle things from here and had Verizon end the call on their end, so why did she have him leave.. She then acts as if that didn't happen, like I was talking to some different Samsung representative all of a sudden, or she completely forgot confirming all my info with the Verizon rep and having him leave. The call ended with her sending me a link to a Samsung page showing the software update release schedule for all Samsung devices, which I had already come across from my research, and is how I discovered I should indeed of had an update.

For the debit card issue, yes I tried removing the cc from the Google and Samsung accounts themselves via web browser and attempted to readd to my phone. Also readding the cc via web browser and trying to "activate" the card in my phone wallet once it appeared, this didn't work. Other cards I attempted would be accepted for use right away, this card I'm trying to add had been on my Flip5 with no issues and used in both apps. I called PNC, they loosened securities and had me attempt again, it didn't work, called again, they said there was a 7 day security block on the card so try again after 7 days, this didn't work either. I also tried using PNC app to add the card directly from the banking app to Samsung and/or Google. It only gives an option for Google and states "1 active device" with no option to remove the device or add an additional device. The web browser banking site does not show any sort of options for digital card management. I gave up on this in hopes that the security update would fix this issue. At this point I would have to call PNC again and hope they could remove the "one device" listed so the app shows the option to add the card to my google wallet, but with all this other stuff, I've been too exhausted to make that phone call lol. I also doubt that would fix the problem, being that the error message I receive states "This card cannot be set up to tap to pay. Your bank doesn't support tap to pay on your device with this card. See which cards can be set up to tap to pay". & of course my personal visa debit PNC card is listed as an accepted card.. Card also has another year before expiration so I don't believe that is the issue either.

I had come to peace with not having circle to search and the convenience of having my debit card on my phone for tap to pay purchases... Until last night when my boyfriend attempted his own research into solving the issue (lol). So now I am back on my soap box and am posting this in hopes that someone will come across this and express their same distresses (so I know I'm not alone) as I cannot find another internet fellow with the same issue for the type of phone I have.

Also lowkey having issues with my hotspot, but again with all this going on, I'm too mentally exhausted to try to figure it out right now, and realize that would be a Verizon issue, not Samsung.

Honestly, if you actually read all of this, thank you.

Your carrier sends your phone the updates after Samsung has released updates to them.

Cheers

There is something wrong with your phone.  The April 2025 Security update has been released to the A35.

Check with your carrier to see why they haven't released it to your phone
