I just checked mine works with no problems whatsoever. The microphone shows a line through it with or without my headphones installed in the phone jack when making or getting a call. This makes no difference the microphone works in a phone call making or receiving calls and with that I close this communication.

The internal microphone system app is not going to work when using the phone with or without the headset,it's muted by the phone system app to work with the phone only.
From the way they posted it sounds like the phone microphone which is internal isn't working while on a call only a headset microphone will work.

The way they worded it, doesn't make it really clear *what* they mean. To me it sounds like they want the microphone to work through the phone while the headphones are in use, or that the wired headphones are not utilizing the mic, which could be an issue with the wired headphones not being compatible. The OP needs to clarify whether they are trying to communicate through the phone mic or the headphone mic. They may be using an older pair of wired headphones that does not have built in DAC and either needs to get a new set or an adapter.
