Has anyone else with an A36 experienced something like this? I have noticed some debris-like substance around the very outer edge of the top camera housing...and to be honest I'm finding it hard to decide if it's actually debris or just a rough edge on the plastic that surrounds the camera. It's very hard to see unless you're looking for it or it's under direct lighting.

I just got the phone a few days ago but I am unable to do a return. I contacted Samsung chat support but the agent I spoke to seemed to not really want to do anything since it didn't effect the 'functionality' of the device.

Yes, you’re not alone—a few Samsung Galaxy A35/A36 users (especially early buyers) have reported similar issues around the camera housing, like:

Tiny plastic burrs or rough edges around the camera ring What looks like debris or glue residue, but is actually manufacturing imperfections Uneven molding or leftover material from the camera module assembly

This seems to be a cosmetic quality control issue, not widespread, but not unheard of—especially on mid-range devices where plastic is used for trim and housing.

What You Can Do: 1. Check if it’s removable Use a soft brush or microfiber cloth to gently clean it. If it doesn’t come off, it’s likely a rough edge or molding issue, not debris. 2. Document it Take clear, close-up photos under light to show the issue. If you notice the area getting worse or debris collecting there, it helps build your case. 3. Escalate with Samsung

Since support dismissed it due to ā€œno functional impact,ā€ ask to escalate:

Use the Samsung Members app to submit feedback with photos. Visit a Samsung Authorized Service Center in person if you have one nearby—technicians can sometimes smooth the edge or even replace the back housing under warranty if it’s a manufacturing flaw. 4. If aesthetics matter

And you can't return the phone, consider:

Using a camera protector ring or case with a raised bezel to mask the area and prevent more debris from gathering there.

Would you like a sample message you can use to escalate with Samsung support or via the Members app?

No, thank you. I do appreciate the response and that's definitely some useful information!

I got an incredible deal on this phone but with that deal comes no returns. I have a receipt (from a retailer) for warranty but I can't use it to exchange the phone.

I'm still undecided if getting it fixed is worth the hassle, especially since I have no service centers near me.

If it doesn't affect the functionality of the camera, and your photos aren't impacted, just leave it alone.  Since you say it's hard to see "unless you are looking for it", stop looking for it.  I do know that's easier said than done, as you can't unsee what you know is there. Personally, I don't see anything in your photo, but you have the actual phone and it's probably more evident.
