Galaxy A53 System update failed

"Unable to update the software. A network or server error occurred. Try again later"

Tried wipe cache, restart phone, adjusting the date and time, mobile data, airplane mode, wifi, and DNS. But nothing I'm missing the update for January.

My Samsung a53 won't update either. I get b the same error message saying it is a server or network error and to try again later - which I've tried numerous times. My last successful update was Dec 29, 2025

Have the same issue. Tried updating with Smart Switch, but after an hour of connection, the phone did not update and the Smart Switch window becomes unresponsive.

Updating with phone connected to PC and utilizing Smart Switch took me around three to four hours, even with a very high-speed internet connection.

I just updated my unlocked A53 to the February security update using Smart Switch and PC. I had to download a 7GB file for the update, where normally security updates are about 400mb when downloading through the phone. Anyway, the update error is still not fixed.

I keep hoping that with each update I do with Smart Switch it will fix this but not yet. Please fix this Samsung!! - Glad I am not the only one who is having this issue.

Can we get a status update from Samsung Moderators regarding this issue? A53 is supposed to receive 5 years of security updates. Can't expect everyone to have access to PC to update via Smart Switch. Most people don't even have a PC.

My A53 has been giving the same error. I did the network reset but refuse to do a factory reset. Im relieved im not the only one. I was starting to think maybe I inadvertently did something to cause the error.

If this is the kind of support Samsung provides for its products, I guess a different brand will be my next phone. This obviously is a widespread problem.

The information the I found about updates for Samsung A53 says that "This phone has reached its end of life. Samsung Galaxy A53 has reached its end of life, meaning that there wonโ€™t be any further (official) Android updates for it. It might receive security patches, but wonโ€™t get new Android operating system updates from its manufacturer. Official, stable version of Android 16 released for Samsung Galaxy A53. This will be the phone's last and final Android update. (link)  2025-10-23

My phone never updated from Android 15, the last update shows as 10/03/2025. It never received the 10/23/2025 update. 

When I do replace my phone I probably won't purchase another Samsung. I spent too much money for this phone when I purchased it in June of 2022 for the updates to be no longer available in the USA. I found information advising updates are available in Korea!!!
