I bought an adapter cord that is a C on one side and hdmi on the other so I could use my phoneon my tv and it's not working. It's there something I should be doing or a setting i need to change?

Go yo security and privacy and make sure auto blocker is iff.

@muppetface Which exact device do you have? I don't believe that all A series have USB C to HDMI capability.

I have a galaxy A14 but I've also tried it with a moto g 5

Most Moto G phones do not natively support wired USB-C to HDMI output.
