Not getting audible text notification

When in Instagram I can receive texts (Google Messages) but I do not get an audible alert. This tends to annoy people texting me because I don't respond instantly. The text icon does appear in the status bar at the top of the phone screen but no audible alert. I do get the audible alerts when not in Instagram.

It also appears to be happening when I am viewing any media regardless of the app

Do you get a notification on the top of your screen?

I get the notification bubble at the top of the screen, just not audible alert

I think you should start looking at it and see if it says something about audible, and does it make a sound for the notification?
