I updated my phone (Galaxy A35) to One UI 7. But for some reason there's now a notification that won't go away, that says my location is being used by system apps. I've looked around and I can't find anything to turn this off.

That's a new indicator. It displays when location is being accessed in the background, either by the operating system or by an app for which you've granted location permission.

Is there a way to turn it off or do I just have to deal with it?

There's no way to turn it off. It's intended for transparency. When it's displayed, you can tap it to find out what's accessing location.

Ah, thank you! I will probably just have to get used to it being there all the time then

You're welcome. I don't know why, but it's constantly displayed on some devices and only displayed when location is being accessed on others.

Toggle off GPS in quick settings and your phone's system apps won't constantly be checking GPS. Saves a lot of battery.

Use Bixby Routines to automatically turn on GPS when specified apps are opened turn it off when you are not using the app in the foreground.
Works well. A bit of a hassle with some weather apps though.
