Samsung Messages app, no notification or button on A13 when getting a text

I do get text messages on Messages, but there is no notification sound or appearance of a button. All this was working fine a month or two ago. Went to T-Mobile store and they said all settings to receive notification and sound were correctly set, and the phone and app were up to date. So, how do I get this stuff back? Thanks.

Try clearing the app's cache.  If that doesn't work clear the phone's cache.  If neither works, clear the app's data, as there may have been some settings changes or changes to the notification categories.  Clearing the data will not delete your messages, but it clears all settings you made, so you will have to configure the app again.  Many times it's these category changes that upsets the sound configuration. Sometimes it's just leftover junk in the cache interfering.

Very interesting. I cleared cache and data, and still no button or sound notification when getting a text. But, that was yesterday; today all is working fine. As I have said before, computer/phone related issues are often caused by mean gremlins.

Maybe the fact that you are on to them made them stop. 🙂
