I recently wanted to set a one off alarm to get up early for a trip so I pressed the clock icon. Instead of being presented with alarm settings where I could quickly set up an alarm and have it return to normal settings the following day I now have modes and routines.

This is a lot more awkward to use as you then have to set up a special routine and then turn it off or restore your normal routine. Is the previous alarm setting somewhere else now or am I stuck with working around modes and routines.

Apart from as an alarm clock I have no use for the other modes - I just turn the phone off. I have hands free bluetooth in the car.

Thanks for your help I am such a dunce when it comes to mobiles. I looked for the alarm clock icon but  in fiddling around I swiped right and this took me back to the alarm screen I was looking for.

All is good now. 😀

@TonyW2 What clock icon did you click on?

If you open the Clock app, you can click on the alarm clock icon at bottom left. Then click the + to add an alarm. No need for a routine.

I just spent a couple hours with CoPilot troubleshooting the issue with alarms. We may have found a defective design that silently shuts off any audible alarm. Normal human behavior causes it. Say you use one alarm frequently to wake up earlier than normal one day. Say you silence the audio settings on your phone at 11pm. Then at 1130 you remember to set the alarm. Under these circumstances the software turns off the alarm sound on that specific alarm only. Other alarms (unmodified) may still work, but the modified one is permanently silenced until you click on it, go into the settings and change alarm from off to a particular alarm sound.
