Chromebook Plus V2 LTE "Failed to connect"

My Chromebook comes equipped with a Verizon LTE SIM card with a data plan.

I've noticed that sometimes, I'm unable to connect to the LTE network. Sometimes rebooting clears the issue, and sometimes it doesn't.

I've already powerwashed and had warranty service replace the modem.

Is there anything else I can do to alleviate this issue?

We are sorry to hear about this. Have you tried getting a new SIM from Verizon?

Re: Chromebook Plus V2 LTE "Failed to connect"

Does this happen in all locations, or at one location?

This happens everywhere, despite even in areas with great reception.

Will you please send a private message with the model code, along with the serial number and IMEI number? http://bit.ly/2XERsky

Re: Chromebook Plus V2 LTE "Failed to connect"

You are not alone. I have been through numerous SIM cards and am now on my 3rd Chromebook (well it is on its way). I get the same error as you posted below.

Re: Chromebook Plus V2 LTE "Failed to connect"

Looks like there's a workaround for this bug. The APN has to be manually set in Developer Mode in chros with the set_apn command. For more details, see Chromium bug here:

https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=979129

However, this is a bug still being worked on by the Chromium team, so I'll keep an eye on the updates.
