Backlit keys no longer working

I seem to have a problem every now and then, with the backlit keys on my laptop no longer working.  I had an odd way of fixing it, but for the last week or two, my method no longer works.  I have a Samsung Notebook Model # NP740U5M-XO1US and using Windows 10.

Coincidentally, the Samsung update app is also faulty.  I used to be able to update drivers from the app, but then I kept on being notified of a new version of the Samsung Update App that I could not seem to install on my computer.  This goes back maybe a year ago.

I did manage to download a Samsung Update App from the Windows Store yesterday, but it does not function in the same way as before.  I have to keep putting the model number of my computer in to see a list of available drivers to update.  Also, the choice of Windows versions seems to be behind the version I am currently running, so I am confused.  Is it alright to chose to update these drivers this way?  The Samsung Update app used to be so much easier to use.

The message from Samsung Update is letting you know that Windows Update had folded in all of the hardware on your device, so Samsung Update is redundant at this point. As far as the keyboard drivers, if you have ever used an external keyboard, either plug in or bluetooth, it will have loaded the drivers for you. I don't believe this will cause any issues, but you can remove and reinstall them if you wish.

I am sorry to hear about this. The keyboard issue you are experiencing is being addressed in a future Windows update. You will want to uninstall all current Samsung Update instances, then reinstall the new version from the Windows store.

So the keyboard light issue is not just on my computer?  Good to know. 

I will try your suggestion about deleting the Samsung Update App and reinstalling it from the Windows Store.

I also want to know why when I go into "Device Manager", "keyboard," there are three duplicate entries that say : "HID Keyboard Device" and one that says "Standard PS/2 Keyboard."  

I don't think I am supposed to have three duplicate entries, but they have been there for a long time.  Is it okay to delete two of them or should I just let them be?  Thanks for your help.

Uninstalled Samsung Update and redownloaded from Windows Store.  Samsung Update still is asking me for my computer model, as above, and also says "this model can be supported by a Windows Update." (This is what it was saying before I uninstalled it, BTW.)
