PROBLEM: Want to use Samsung Magician with Samsung NVMe 980 Pro inside a Sabrent USB enclosure (Model EC-SNVE). This set up operates perfectly for storing data in Windows 10..., BUT.. the NVMe shows up as a **generic** 1TB NVMe drive in Samsung Magician. I can't use any of the special Samsung features of Magician because Magician thinks its a "generic" NVMe.. It can't see that its a genuine Samsuung NVMe. YIKES ! I bought the enclosure so I could clone a drive using Samsung Magician. Additional info... Have updated the Sabrent enclosure's firmware to the most recent available (Ver 1.33). As mentioned..as an external drive ...it works fine. Presently NONE of the special features of Magician work. The Sabrent enclosure doesn't pass info to Magician that we are working with a legit Samsung NVMe. Can anyone shed some light on a fix? Is there another branded reliable USB external enclosure that will allow me to use the special features of Samsung Magician? If so...tell me names and model numbers.

The controller in the enclosure should be the problem. Have you tried a direct connection while using the Magician software? Also, try another SSD enclosure if you have any.
Thank you for this advice. The enclosure maker SABRENT confirmed that the special features of Magician are not accessible through its USB enclosure. Believe that Magician's special features will not be available via ANY USB enclosure.
Wish Samsung would write the next Magician upgrade to allow full feature access via ALL USB NVMe enclosures.
I will leave this thread OPEN for a while longer in case another viewer knows of a USB enclosure that DOES pass through Samsung SSD/NVMe details necessary for use of Magician with such USB enclosure.
Maybe I'll get REAL lucky and Samsung engineers will see this and make a happy ending remedy for all.
