I have to keep it off cause it's too bright inside the house. I'll turn it on if I'm out but I am being blinded by it when. I should be

I could never get used to adaptive...I just adjust manually as appropriate.

Adaptive brightness doesn't work out of the box. It learns over time, every time you adjust your brightness while it's on, you teach it your preference. Eventually it will be perfectly tailored to your liking.

Something that might help you is that "extra dim" feature. It appears to work alongside adaptive brightness, and you can control how intense the dimming is.

I have the same issue, way too bright in dimly lit places It's definitely related to the beta.
