The ui is much smoother, but seems like most of the suggestions and wanted refresh for the ui was left out . Same old top icons, same old Aod, same old dailer along the boring animations again

They might have been ironing out background fixes first. Feature updates don't start showing up until beta 3 & 4.

Are you talking about the icons in the top swipe down page? If so I'm not really sure why they would want to change them because it's not like they're being looked at like the home screen icons or something.
