For some. Depending on carrier and when they release update. I'm on prepaid att with unlocked note 20 ultra 5g. I'm literally updating now. So bye bye beta lol.

A benefit of having an unlocked phone should be that Samsung controls the updates and not the carrier. T-Mobile doesn't block iOS updates but I guess they can tell Samsung to block unlocked customers. Still waiting for the update on the 'final' day.

Ios is different. Samsung said it is still up to the carriers cause they have to make sure the update will work on their network. The same rep I spoke with at Samsung said the only reason to get an unlocked phone is if you travel a lot outside the country or plan on moving abroad
