DiscussionsThey are two separate software systems at play tho. The newer "direct voicemail," feature kinda allows you to have a transcription service natively that carriers tend to add a "premium voicemail," charge to its customers.

DiscussionsIf one had no service and a VM was left, people will be looking for their voicemail in the above mentioned section and see nothing and have to look in two places.
Furthermore, Samsung now has to sync that with their other Samsung stuff.
VM was technically the first to be "in the cloud" since back in the day.
Either way, useful but not a good implementation. Nor is the attempt at call screening. Google for once did a good job at something when they added it to Pixels, aside from it being Pixel exclusive.
