I too am having issues with the gallery app but its much worse. The gallery app is completely unusable for me. I can't edit, move, delete or simply play a video. I'm also unable to preview any new photos or videos that I take. Hopefully this issue gets resolved soon or I might have to downgrade back to one ui 5.
I had same issue with Facebook and heres how i applied a fix. See if this works for gallery. Press and hold gallery and click the i, click storage then clear data. Back out and then choose permissions and remove all permissions, save and reboot. then repeat the process without clearing data and allow permissions for (music and audio, photos and video) save and reboot. Can you use gallery now?
