During beta 1 and 2, I could have my flip 6 closed and say, "hey Google" and it would hear and respond as normal.
On beta 3, it simply says "flip open for more" but doesn't allow you to do anything until you flip it open. Can't ask what time is it or for a joke even. If you flip it open, Google responds like normal.
Keep in mind this has nothing to do with my phone being locked vs unlocked or the respond on lockscreen being locked setting, or if the screen was on or off at the time, etc.
To clarify, google assistant only worked during beta 1 and 2 for me. Before that, it has never worked. I would keep all the bugs in beta 1/2 if I could just keep Google Assistant working 😭
Not being able to use assistant completely makes the entire reason I bought a flip phone non-existent. I bought it because the extra layer of opening it up reminds me that I'm trying to stay off of it.
But when I can't have it text someone or read a message because it is folded.. what's the point? If I have to open it to do everything then I just leave it open and the temptation wins and I doom scroll on Instagram.
My ultra would do anything I asked of it even while locked because I have voice match on. I don't know why I need to leave my phone sitting there open because even if it is unlocked Google Assistant won't work unless it's open.
