Where is the keyboard?!

Shouldn't the keyboard automatically come up when swiping up in home screen layout mode? 

 What's strange is that the blinking cursor is ready for type but the keyboard is not presen

This is my main grip with using the OneUI home, I'm unable to use it. It's a basic functionality that should have baked in right from the onset. Maybe the developers don't use the launcher themselves. I have raised it with others in the reviews section on the store but no one seems to be listening. I use a different luncher because of this.

I'm trying different launchers as well but it would be much not seamless using OneUI.
